Beef Stroganoff
This is my most favorite dish that my mom makes. I rarely get to eat it since I’m rarely home. The one time I tried to make it myself it didn’t come close, at all. So why bother? BUT Sean and I are giving it whirl tonight so we’ll see how it comes out! 1 and 1/2 pounds beef tenderloin or boneless top loin steak, about ½ inch thick 3 tablespoons margarine or butter 1...

After my night...
I’m looking forward to watching In Treatment on HBO.  The NYT gave it a pretty good review and with the lack of new well written television these days I’m excited by the possibility of a new, good show:)  Tonight consisted of going to the grocery store and coming out to find a huge Chevy SUV slammed into my bumper with NO DRIVER in the car.  It was just hanging out there in my bumper...

Regarding my last quote...
Since starting this tumblr, it has made me miss my job in publishing much more than I previously thought.  Prior to moving south I worked in NYC for a big publishing company in the young readers marketing department.  It was definitely my dream job straight out of college.  I stayed there about 3 years and wanted to make a change…so I got a job in Wilmington, NC 5 miles from the beach.  I...

MIA
I’m sorry I was a little lax with the posting over the weekend.  My goal is to try and keep this pretty current and not go days on end without posting anything at all…but this weekend I was busy recovering (sleeping) from Friday.   And yesterday I took a sick day b/c I had a migraine, so I didn’t feel like typing or looking at a computer.  Work is really busy for me today so I...

TGIF
Happy Friday! 30 minutes and counting until I’m out of here for the weekend. It’s been a long week. I’m definitely looking forward to my teams get-together tonight. It will be nice to unwind. . note to self: Do not run 3 miles without socks, you will get huge blisters on your feet (I forgot my socks today! ugh)

While we're on the subject.
The Independent runs yet another one of those “my drinks horror” pieces. It’s exactly like the rest of them. Still, I was reading the list at the bottom where author Tania Glyde extols the benefits of sobriety and this one stood out: ”11. Better Sex Kiss goodbye to horrible drunken lunges, sticky saliva, him ending up in the “wrong hole” – or no hole at all,...

I have to admit
Since moving to Wilmington, NC in August and spending my first January here  I  have enjoyed the warmer winter weather compared to the blistery cold conditions in NYC/Hoboken.  BUT I miss experiencing the excitement of the first snowfall.  I remember one first snowfall of the season in particular back in Hoboken…we were gallivanting all over town making snow angles and climbing over fences...

Tomorrow makes me nervous...
So tomorrow is the first true test of my ability to just say no. My team is going out after work for drinks and dinner. It’s on the company. Drinks are hard enough to say no to, but FREE drinks make it virtually impossible. No is a word that will soon be lost from my vocabulary. I’m already saying to myself…well 1 or 2 glasses of wine won’t hurt. But then that always...

funky funk
I’ve been in a bit of a funk today…daydreaming about bigger and better things that don’t include sitting in my cube.   So I’m going to go to our office fitness center (one extremely nice perk…it’s like a real gym that you pay for, but we don’t pay and it’s huge) to hopefully run my way out of this funky mood…

It's amazing...
to me that someone like David Karp at the age of 17 can be so focused and able to jump on a plane and move to Japan for 5 months so he can meet engineers and advance his career in technology.  And now at 21 is doing very well for himself.   To say the least it is very motivating and makes me feel that at 26 I should be much more focused than I am.  But I guess some of us are able to figure out at...

But my post times are an hour behind and it’s little things like this that always seem to bother me.  tumblr said it’s engineers are working out the issue.  I’ll let you know when it appears to be fixed.  In the mean time…add an hour :)

Last night
I managed to accomplish all of my extremely daunting goals (kidding) and even exceeded them by reading TWO chapters of my book.   It’s a good one, I’m thoroughly enjoying it.  If you haven’t read any of David Sedaris, I highly recommend his books.  I went to bed very early (10:30) and somehow I’m still sleepy this morning.  Maybe it’s because they didn’t turn...

Day 6...
I’m going on day six of not drinking. My goal is to make it until Friday, February 8th without a drop of anything…not even a single glass of wine (that means I have to get through Super Bowl Sunday too!) I’ve tried this little experiment before, but only managed to last 2 weeks. I’ve decided that maybe tracking my progress on here might help…and I will let you know...
